What is high potential and gifted education?
High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.
We do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.

- When subjects are not available at Fowler Road School students in Stages 5 and 6 are supported to access a broad range of learning opportunities through Distance Education to ensure students can pursue their interests and aspirations.

- Sport programs, through an active link with sporting Schools, a government initiative to assist schools to increase children's participation in sport, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities.
- STEM programs to equip students with essential skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
- Mentoring for students to add breadth, engagement and challenge to student experiences.
- Evidence-Based Mental Health Programs to support students navigating adversity or trauma.
- Whole-school inclusion initiatives including community access, incursions, excursions and school camp.
Fowler Road School students can participate in a wide range of state-wide programs that aim to extend and enrich student potential.
- The Premier’s Sporting Challenge (PSC) promotes whole-school participation in physical activity with leadership pathways and professional learning.
- The NSW Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC)
encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. - The Sports Unit offers opportunities for students with disabilities to get involved in sports at various levels throughout the school sport structure, from participation to elite.
- The National Student Wellbeing Program provides Fowler Road School with a wellbeing officers to deliver evidence-based mental health programs.
