Our school administrative staff can answer inquiries or direct you to the appropriate staff member for help.

Staff objectives

The overall aim of our staff is to work with students to develop their capacity to make a successful return to less restrictive settings, particularly regular schools. Each student who is referred to the program is seen by the school counsellor at the home school.

Our work with home school (PDF 22KB) is to facilitate the student's transition to the appropriate program at the appropriate time. After a student is offered placement the AP or Principal discuss details of student and programs with staff from Fowler Road before student is enrolled.

Communication

At Fowler Road School, our staff work in a challenging and difficult environment that requires effective communication strategies. These are the main practices used to promote effective communication in this school (PDF 21KB):

  • The school plan is developed with input from all the staff and each staff member has a copy.
  • Staff are made aware of the focus of each classroom and for each student at program sharing meetings.
  • School information on students is kept in student folders in a filing cabinet in the principal's office.

Specialised training

All our staff need to undergo professional learning (PDF 24KB) which is critical to the ongoing work that takes place in the school. We follow a range of strategies in this school to promote training and development.

At Fowler Road School, we strive to create an ideal learning environment that complies with the specific department policy on the Code of Conduct. Our teaching staff fully abide by the ethical behaviour and accountability (PDF 35KB) to fulfill our duty of care towards students and take responsibility in promoting safety, welfare and well-being of the students.
